Our story...
Imagine a family of musicians - classically trained with a bent for progressive rock. This was our story but with a twist. Not only were we a family band, but the instruments were highly unusual for rock music! Art in America is the first rock and roll band to feature a concert pedal harp, Japanese koto and Indian tambura (played by sister Shishonee (Ruetenik) Flynn. Our lineup also includes Chris (Ruetenik) Flynn on guitar and vocals, and brother Dan (Ruetenik) Flynn on drums with Jim Kuha on bass and guitar.
Art in America toured extensively opening for bands like U2, King Crimson, Captain Beefheart, Gary Numan, Split Enz, Adam Ant, Bill Brufford, Steve Hackett, and Roxy Music. We reached the pinnacle of success in 1983 with the successful release of our first album "Art in America" on CBS Pavillion records. The band is still releasing current music and songs "from the vaults".
